Årets Ashtanga Yoga workshop

Mark Robberds kommer til Oslo

IMG_6578

Her er hans bio: Mark Robberds has been studying yoga since 1997. He is a Certified Ashtanga Yoga teacher (one of the few Certified by KPJAYI) and spent 10 years travelling regularly to India to practice with the late, legendary Guru Sri. K. Pattabhi Jois, and the last 6 years with his grandson R. Sharath, of Mysore. He teaches traditional Mysore style and Led classes, as well as workshops, intensives and retreats within Australia and internationally. Mark’s workshops and retreats are beneficial to all students, from all traditions, from beginners to advanced and teachers alike. These intensives are for those looking to develop and enhance their yoga practice by learning the essential techniques of alignment and breath awareness, while cultivating the balance between strength, stability and flexibility. These classes are for all wishing to learn the core concepts of yoga philosophy, and how to apply the wisdom of yoga into daily life, on and off the mat.

Unlocking the Code
There are certain postures in each of the series that can prevent us from moving forward, but once understood, like learning the code of a combination lock, open up the gates to the next series. We will work on the safe entry and exit into the half-lotus postures – to prevent or heal/manage knee injuries. Unlock the Marichyasanas and work on different modifications and options. Bhuja Pidasana, Kurmasana/Supta Kurma explained step by step. Garbha Pindasana, Baddha Konasana. Due to the modern, sedentary lifestyle many people struggle with these postures. Everyday essential lifestyle movements will be introduced here for students to work with, to improve both their practice and their health. Anatomical differences will also be explained. Learn how to be self-sufficient and develop a self practice.
Breathwork and exploration continued.

Aug 20 Saturday Workshop

Backbending
All of us can develop safe and beautiful backbends to the vest of our own ability. It is a matter of rediscovering the primary patterns of movement that allow us to find our own unique way of expressing our back bending potential. From Samasthiti to the final pose, the keys to unlocking this intelligence of the body can be found. This class will explore ways to find those keys, the fundamental shoulder movements, pelvic/lumbar rhythms, breath patterns and the hip, leg and foot work needed for back bends and beyond, into all aspects of your practice and life.
Breathwork and sitting practice
Breathwork – Uddiyana Bandha, nauli kriya and Visama Vritti.

15:00-17:00
Going Upside Down
In this inversions and arm balancing workshop the headstand and shoulder stand, with their variations will be explored and explained. The neck is a delicate structure and needs to be treated with care. Good alignment, strength and stability is paramount before attempting the headstand. We will do core strengthening exercises to prepare. Understanding protraction and depression of the scapulas. Connecting the upper and lower limbs to the spine and pelvis. Preparatory exercises for the headstand, like forearm plank, pincha mayurasana, and other essential arm balances will be taught.
These techniques will be applied to Jump backs and jump throughs, a vitally important part of the Ashtanga System. Learn a step by step approach to get the best out these movements, so that they develop strength, heat and mobility.
